I first found this book in the IU art library when I was researching hand-hooked rugs. Now I have my own copy (thanks, half.com!) and can drool over the images whenever I want. The work in here blows me away! It's a huge shame that "rugs" largely fell off the radar in contemporary art after the 1970's (this book is from 1974)--however, it seems that is changing. There is too much opportunity here for this wealth of techniques to be ignored much longer.

In the next few days I'll be sending this print ("A Hundred Closed Doors") off to the Four Rivers Print Biennial in Carbondale, IL. Exciting! I am very excited to share that my laser-engraved frameback piece, "This Future", will be featured in the Assimilation exhibition curated by Nicole Jacquard and Frankie Flood. The exhibition will be held at Zoom Milwaukee this May. Jeff and I will be driving it up and installing in, since it is bulky and tricky to hang. We're excited to see the exhibition and to explore Milwaukee for the first time! |
